About Temple Run 2

Temple Run 2 is the sequel to the original endless runner and builds on its idea with richer graphics, more varied environments and new ways to move. As before, you run automatically while being chased by demon monkeys, and you steer by swiping and tilting. The main difference is that the world is more dynamic, with zip lines, mine carts, water slides and different themed maps. These variations make each run less repetitive than in the first game.

Gameplay and controls
You swipe to turn, jump and slide, and you tilt the phone to move left and right while collecting coins. The path includes cliffs, rope bridges, broken tracks and obstacles that require quick reactions. Special sections change the way you play, for example when you ride a mine cart through a tunnel or slide down a slope. Gems appear less often and can be used to revive after a fall, while coins pay for upgrades and unlockable characters.

Characters and maps
The game has a roster of characters, each with a special ability, such as a starting boost or extra coins. Different maps offer new scenery, such as jungle ruins, frozen mountains, and more fantastical settings, and they sometimes rotate or arrive as limited-time additions. You can also customise characters with outfits and pets. These choices are mostly cosmetic or provide small benefits, and you can enjoy the game without spending money.

Power-ups and upgrades
Power-ups such as a shield, a magnet and a speed boost are available and can be upgraded with coins. They help you achieve longer runs, but they do not replace good timing. Daily objectives and goals offer extra rewards. The game supports leaderboards, so you can compare your scores with others, though a connection may be needed for this feature. Many players use the game offline.

Tips for better runs
Look at the upcoming section and prepare your movement before you reach a turn. Keep calm when the game changes pace, such as on a zip line, and remember to line up your character before landing. Do not use gems to continue too early, because the early game is easy to repeat. Use upgrades on power-ups you use often. Take breaks to avoid fatigue, as a quick, repetitive game can be tiring.

Ads and purchases
The game is free to download and supported by advertising, and it includes optional purchases for coins, gems and extras. Offers vary, so check the store page. If children play, discuss spending limits and use parental controls.

Who it suits
It suits those who liked the first game and want more variety, as well as new players who enjoy fast arcade titles. It is good for short sessions and suitable for most ages. People who dislike ads or repetitive gameplay may find it less appealing in the long term.

How it compares
Compared with the original, it is more polished, with a greater range of environments. Compared with Subway Surfers, its tilt controls and varied sections give it a different feel.

Our take
Temple Run 2 is a smooth, colourful sequel that improves the original design. Install it from the official store link on this page.
