About Ludo King®
Ludo King is a digital version of Ludo, a classic board game that is popular in India and many other countries and is related to the old game Pachisi. Players move four tokens around a cross-shaped board according to the roll of a die. The aim is to bring all four tokens home before your opponents do. The mobile game is made by Gametion and adds modes, themes and online features, while keeping the traditional rules that families have played for generations.
Basic rules
Each player has four tokens that start in a home area. You need to roll a six to bring a token onto the track. Tokens then move clockwise around the board by the number rolled. If your token lands on a square occupied by an opponent’s token, that token is sent back to its start, unless the square is marked as safe. Rolling a six gives you another turn. When a token has completed the lap, it enters the home column and needs an exact roll to finish. The first player to bring all four tokens home wins.
Game modes
You can play against the computer without an internet connection, which is handy when travelling. Local multiplayer allows several people to share one phone and take turns. Online modes let you play with friends or with other players, and you can chat or send quick reactions. The app also includes Snakes and Ladders, and tournament-style play may be available. The number of players supported can vary by mode, so check the options in the game.
Strategy
Ludo is mostly a game of luck, but decisions still matter. Bring tokens out early, protect those that are close to home, and use safe squares to avoid capture. When you have a choice, think about how many turns each option may take.
Themes and customisation
The game offers different board themes and designs, as well as avatars and dice styles. These are cosmetic.
Safety, ads and purchases
Ludo King is free to download and supported by advertising, with optional purchases for cosmetic items and conveniences. Use the official store link on this page and be careful with messages offering free rewards or money. If younger family members play online, review chat and privacy settings and consider the game’s age rating on the store page.
Who it suits
It suits families, friends and casual players who enjoy simple, social games. It is easy to explain, so even people who have never played can join quickly. People who want deep strategy or control over outcomes may find the dice too random.
How it compares
Compared with chess or Carrom, Ludo is lighter and more luck-based. Compared with other board apps, it is especially popular for group play.
Our take
Ludo King is a simple, familiar and sociable board game for the phone. You can find the official download link on this page.
