Survival and Endless Games: Building a Repeatable Strategy
How to last longer in zombie survival, chase and endless runner games.

The game is not meant to be won
In an endless game, such as a zombie survival or a police-chase game, there is no final level. The goal is a better run than your last one. Thinking this way takes away the frustration of losing and turns each attempt into practice.
Review how each run ended
After each run, ask what actually ended it. Was it a wall, a crowd, a late turn or a missed pick-up? If the same cause keeps appearing, that is the one thing to fix next. This is faster than trying to improve everything at once.
Keep moving and keep space
In most survival games, standing still is the main way to lose. Keep a path open behind you and avoid moving into corners. If the game has enemies that chase you, circling in open space is almost always safer than retreating along a wall.
Use upgrades wisely
When a game lets you spend coins on upgrades, favour options that keep you alive or let you escape. Damage upgrades feel good, but survival upgrades are what give you more time to use them.
Take calm decisions under pressure
Panic causes most mistakes. If the screen fills up, slow your inputs rather than speeding them up. A small, controlled movement is better than a big, desperate one.
Stop while you are still enjoying it
These games can be addictive. Set a number of attempts or a time limit and stop when you reach it, not when you finally feel annoyed.
