About Jetpack Joyride

Jetpack Joyride is an endless runner from Halfbrick Studios, the team behind Fruit Ninja. You play Barry Steakfries, a cheerful hero who breaks into a secret laboratory, grabs an experimental jetpack and flies down a long corridor while avoiding the hazards that the scientists have installed. There is a single control: press and hold the screen to fire the jetpack and rise, and release to fall. That one-finger idea is easy to learn, but staying alive as the pace increases takes real timing.

What you meet along the way
The lab is full of obstacles. Zappers, lasers and guided missiles all end a run if they touch you, and each moves in its own pattern. You collect coins along the route, which you spend between runs on new jetpacks, gadgets and costumes. Occasionally you find a vehicle token that gives Barry a temporary ride, such as a motorbike, a dragon or a gravity-flipping suit. Each vehicle changes the controls for a short time, which keeps the game from feeling repetitive.

Missions and progression
The game gives you three missions at a time, such as flying a certain distance or collecting a number of coins without being hit. Completing all three raises your rank and unlocks rewards. This structure works well for short sessions, because every run moves you toward something. Gadgets and jetpacks add small advantages, but skill still decides how far you get. Seasonal items and limited events change the look of the lab from time to time.

How to last longer
Do not hold the button constantly. Short taps keep you near the middle of the screen, where you have more room to dodge. Watch the left edge for missile warnings, which flash briefly before the missile arrives. Move early rather than at the last moment. When a zapper stretches across the whole corridor, aim for the gap and remember that a jetpack falls faster than it rises. Save your coins for upgrades that reduce risk, not only for costumes.

Ads, purchases and play time
The game is free to download and includes advertising, and you may be offered extra coins or a revive in exchange for watching a video. Optional purchases are available for coins and cosmetic content. Runs are short, so it is easy to keep playing, and a timer can help you stop. If a child plays, check the device purchase settings.

Age suitability
The tone is humorous and cartoon-like, with no realistic violence. A failed run is shown in a light-hearted way, though the game does involve explosions and electric hazards. Most families find it suitable for general use, but you can check the age rating on the store page.

Who it suits
It suits casual players who like quick sessions, simple controls and a bit of collecting. It works well for waiting rooms, commutes and short breaks. Players who want story, depth or multiplayer competition will find it limited.

How it compares
Compared with Subway Surfers, it is a side-scroller with a single control and faster reactions. Compared with Doodle Jump, it has more variety and a clearer reward structure.

Our take
Jetpack Joyride remains one of the best one-touch games on mobile. When you are ready, the official Google Play link is on this page.
