About Cut the Rope 2
Cut the Rope 2 is the sequel to ZeptoLab’s physics puzzle game, and it follows Om Nom as he leaves home and travels through new environments in search of candy. The core idea is familiar: cut ropes to let the candy swing and fall into Om Nom’s mouth. The sequel adds a more detailed look, new characters and extra mechanics that make the puzzles feel different from the original game. It can be enjoyed on its own, but players who liked the first game will recognise the style.
What is new
The most notable addition is a group of small helpers called Nommies, who join Om Nom and provide special abilities in particular situations. The game also introduces new devices and obstacles, such as moving platforms and mechanisms that change the path of the candy. Levels often have more elements than in the first game, so you need to plan carefully. Each environment has a different theme, with its own colours and puzzles.
Core gameplay
You still swipe to cut ropes, and the physics still decide the outcome. You can collect stars to unlock later areas, and you can try to get all three in each level for a greater challenge. The candy can be attached to several ropes or devices, and you may need to move it in two or more stages. Because the puzzles often have multiple possible solutions, there is room for creativity, but collecting every star usually needs one specific path.
Tips
Observe the level before touching anything. Look at how the candy will swing, and imagine the effect of each cut. Use the restart button if you make a mistake. When a level has helpers or special devices, make sure you know their effect before moving the candy. Be patient with timing, as small differences in when you cut can change the arc. If you are stuck on a star, start from the star and work backwards to find the path that reaches it.
Progression, energy and purchases
The game is free to download but uses a free-to-play structure, which may include limits such as energy or waiting times and optional purchases for extra items. Systems like these differ between versions and can change, so check the store listing and in-game information. If you want a calmer experience, consider the first game or look for versions without those limits. Parents should use device controls to restrict purchases.
Visuals and sound
The animation is more detailed than in the first game, and Om Nom has more expressions and reactions. Music and effects are light and cheerful.
Who it suits
It suits fans of the first game, children who enjoy cute characters and adults who like short puzzles. It is generally suitable for families. Players who dislike free-to-play limits may prefer the simpler original.
How it compares
Compared with the original Cut the Rope, it is more elaborate and more polished, but also more complex. Compared with Angry Birds 2, it is quieter and based on solving rather than aiming.
Our take
Cut the Rope 2 is a charming follow-up with more variety. You can find the official download link on this page.
